Hailey, the Florist
Hi there! Nice to (virtually) meet you! My name is Hailey McGhee and I own Roseraie. I stumbled into it a few years after discovering a love for fine arts and found that creativity, art, and design were what I blossomed in, pun intended! My first floral job was an event coordinator position at a local florist who focused on sympathy design. Soon after learning sympathy and retail design, I branched into weddings and events. I found that I particularly enjoyed designing florals for the happiest moments in life and I finally decided that opening my own studio was the ultimate goal. One day, a good friend of mine who owned commercial property showed me a dusty, unfinished storage room off to the side of his gallery and said "Hailey, this is going to be your flower shop. All you have to do is muster up the courage and clean this room up and you'll be in business." At first, I thought that he was crazy! However, before long, I was elbow deep in a bucket of drywall compound determined to turn a storage room into a flower shop. It took about two months to get the room prepared for opening day. With the love and support from my family and friends, the store opened on August 21, 2017 and it has evolved into everything that I dreamed of! We have now moved out of the original location and are now a private wedding and event studio located in Hendersonville, NC. Since this is a small, local business, rest assured that you will receive the highest level of commitment and quality, as EVERY bride who chooses Roseraie, will work directly with me. When you meet me, you will discover quickly that I am extremely down-to-earth, a little goofy, and very good at floral design! Look at what previous couples are saying here!
Aside from floristry
I would describe myself as ambitious and free-spirited. Experiencing all the joys that life has to offer is what I strive to do everyday! I have two adorable, mischievous dogs, Lola and Riley, and I've been married to Joe, the love of my life, for 3 years. He's a physical therapist but he wins brownie points by helping me on weekends when I have a wedding to design, so you will most likely get to meet him! Joe and I have a real passion for helping tiny humans who are less fortunate. Furthermore, we are foster parents who strive to teach love, compassion, and grace to the kids that we welcome into our home. We love spending time with our foster kids outdoors! Hiking, camping, celebrating, and travelling are some of our favorite things to do. The business originally started in Birmingham, AL but the mountains were calling us and I have gotten so much inspiration by the views here! I studied college level 2D design and fine arts courses and that is how I discovered my love for oil painting and I still paint today! I prefer painting nature scenes, animals, and -of course- florals. Aside from painting, snuggling with my dogs, and creating wedding florals, I can spend some serious time (and cash) in a good antique shop! The Pantone 2019 color of the year is Living Coral but I am forever partial to ultra violet, emerald green, and mauve.
My floral style:
As stated above, I love nature! My florals are nature inspired, yet modern and elegant. I love garden-style, soft bouquets that perfectly accent each bride. I apply the concepts learned in my fine arts classes to my floral art to create harmony, balance, and a perfect composition. I prefer to use a large color palette that features many different shades to create depth, variety, and contrast. There are hundreds of different flower and foliage varieties and I’m always looking for ways to incorporate unique varieties in my arrangements.
